Stefanie Gefroh, MD, has been appointed president of Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health’s west market.
Dr. Gefroh has served in the role on an interim basis since August, according to a March 27 Essentia Health news release. The west market includes Eastern North Dakota and Western Minnesota.
She has been with the health system for more than 20 years, holding leadership roles such as associate chief medical officer while continuing to provide OB-GYN care and surgical services at Essentia Health-Fargo (N.D.).
During her tenure, Dr. Gefroh has led initiatives to expand women’s services, recruit for the heart and vascular service line and improve access across the west market.Essentia Health operates 14 hospitals and employs more than 15,000 people.
