Encompass, Piedmont tap Georgia rehab hospital CEO

Loretta Rice, BSN, RN, has been appointed CEO of a rehabilitation hospital set to open in February.

Rehabilitation Hospital of Athens is a joint venture between Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health and Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare, according to an Oct. 21 news release.

Ms. Rice has 24 years of healthcare experience and most recently served as a regional director of operations, the release said.

The new 40-bed hospital is part of the systems’ joint venture, which includes six other rehabilitation hospitals. 

Encompass Health includes 165 hospitals and is the nation’s largest owner and operator of rehabilitation hospitals, the release said.
