Encompass Health names COO

Patrick Tuer has been named COO of Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health, a newly created role, effective immediately.

Mr. Tuer joined Encompass Health in 2018 as regional vice president and most recently served as group president, overseeing 69 hospitals across three operating regions, according to an April 24 health system news release. 

In his new role, he will lead operations across the organization’s 167 hospitals. The promotion follows continued growth at Encompass, with Mr. Tuer credited for driving operational improvements and enhancing patient outcomes, President and CEO Mark Tarr said in the release. 

Before joining Encompass, Mr. Tuer was regional vice president at Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based Select Medical and spent nine years with Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems prior to that, according to his LinkedIn profile.
