Brewer-based Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems named Steven M. Berkowitz, MD, permanent senior vice president and chief physician executive.

1. Dr. Berkowitz has served as interim chief physician executive since January 2017.

2. He previously served as CMO of St. David’s Healthcare in Austin, Texas.

3. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
