Dr. William Farrar appointed CEO of OSU’s James Cancer Hospital

After serving as interim CEO for two years, William Farrar, MD, was named permanent leader of Columbus-based James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Dr. Farrar, a surgical oncologist, has served on staff at the James Cancer Hospital since it opened in July 1990. He is the Dr. Arthur G. and Mildred C. James-Richard J. Solove chair in surgical oncology at OSU Wexner Medical Center and director of the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center in Columbus.

He was director of the surgical oncology division for 28 years and director of medical affairs at James Cancer Hospital 22 years.

Dr. Farrar is president of the U.S. National Committee for International Union Against Cancer and principal investigator for the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project Clinical Trial Group at Ohio State. He served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Surgical Oncology and the Annals of Surgical Oncology.
