Dr. Gregory James named chief clinical officer of Saint Thomas Health: 4 things to know

Gregory James, MD, has been named chief clinical officer of Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health, a ministry of St. Louis-based Ascension Health, according to a report published by WGNS.

Here are four things to know about Dr. James.

1. He will join the nine-hospital system as chief clinical officer in mid-February.

2. He comes to Saint Thomas Health from Birmingham, Ala.-based St. Vincent’s Health System, also an Ascension ministry.

3. At St. Vincent’s Health System, Dr. James, who is board-certified in psychology and neurology, has been on the medical staff since 1995. He has served on the medical executive, ethics, education, clinical care, service excellence, planning and utilization review committees, and also served as chairman of the peer review committee. Additionally, he was medical staff secretary/treasurer prior to taking on the role of CMO in 2010.

4. Dr. James is currently part of the Ascension Leadership Academy. He is also a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American College of Physician Executives.
