Dignity Health taps president for 3 hospitals

Dignity Health East Valley has named Mario Garner, EdD, as its next president, effective Oct. 22.

Dr. Garner will oversee operations at Dignity Health Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers, as well as Arizona General Hospital-Mesa, according to an Oct. 22 health system news release. 

He joins the organization from St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital, an affiliate of Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health in Houston, where he served as president for seven years.

Prior to St. Luke’s, Dr. Garner held leadership roles at Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System, including COO of its Southeast market and CEO of Memorial Hermann Pearland (Texas) Hospital. He also previously served as CEO of New Orleans East Hospital.

Dignity Health East Valley is a member of CommonSpirit Health.
