Dignity Health taps former Ascension exec as Central Coast market president

Benjamin “BJ” Predum has been named Central Coast market president at Dignity Health, effective Feb. 2, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.

In the role, Mr. Predum will oversee the following California hospitals:

  • Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (Arroyo Grande)
  • Dominican Hospital (Santa Cruz)
  • French Hospital Medical Center (San Luis Obispo)
  • Marian Regional Medical Center (Santa Maria)
  • Sequoia Hospital (Redwood City)
  • St. John’s Camarillo (Camarillo)
  • St. John’s Regional Medical Center (Ventura County)

Mr. Predum joined Dignity Health in 2022 as president and CEO of Mercy Hospitals Bakersfield (Calif.). Most recently, he served as Central Valley market president and CEO beginning in March 2024. During his tenure, he oversaw a large-scale acquisition, managed multiple physician partnerships and led the opening of a new hospital tower, according to the release.

Before joining Dignity Health, he was regional vice president and COO of Ascension Michigan’s west region, where he oversaw operations across 11 counties.

Dignity Health is part of Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health.
