Detroit Medical Center names new regional COO: 4 things to know

The Detroit Medical Center has chosen Reginald J. Eadie, MD, as the new DMC regional COO, effective Aug. 1.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Eadie.

1. An emergency medicine physician, he has been serving as CEO of DMC Harper University Hospital, DMC Hutzel Women's Hospital and DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital.

2. Previously, he held various other roles at DMC, including vice president of medical affairs at Harper and Hutzel. In July 2010, Dr. Eadie was appointed as CEO of Detroit Receiving, and was named CEO of DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in January 2012.

3. During his tenure at DMC, Dr. Eadie founded the DMC 61 Day Challenge, a health education campaign focusing on fitness, nutrition, health education and commitment to a healthier lifestyle. He also increased DMC's quality indicators for better patient care and led a primary care strategy for the region, DMC said.

4. Dr. Eadie will continue to provide executive oversight to the leadership teams of Harper, Hutzel and Detroit Receiving hospitals while the search process to identify a replacement for his current role is underway.
