Mr. McElveen assumed the role in April. He previously served as political director and news anchor of WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H.

Mr. McElveen’s attorney told the Union Leader that Mr. McElveen resigned due to “philosophical differences with other administrators.” He also noted that the decision to depart was mutually agreed upon by Mr. McElveen and the other administrators. The hospital declined to comment as it is a personnel issue.

“Although I had always intended that my tenure would be short, I’m grateful to have been a part of the Dartmouth Hitchcock team,” Mr. McElveen said in a statement, according to the Union Leader.
