Preston Hammock has been appointed senior vice president of business and partnership development at Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health.

The newly created role underscores the importance of partnerships in improving care and access, according to a June 23 Cone Health news release.

In the position, Mr. Hammock will work with community organizations to address non-medical areas of health — such as access to fresh food and safe places to exercise — and collaborate with colleges and universities in non-traditional areas. He will also lead formal partnerships and seek out companies whose products or expertise can accelerate Cone Health’s care delivery.

Mr. Hammock joined Cone Health in 2006 and has held several leadership roles, including president of The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. He has served as senior vice president of Cone Health’s Greensboro market for the past three years.

Angie Orth, chief of staff to the CEO, has assumed the market vice president role on an interim basis.
