Cleveland Clinic taps Edward Marx as CIO

Cleveland Clinic named Edward Marx its CIO, effective Sept. 1. He comes to the clinic from the Advisory Board Company, where he served as executive vice president.

Marx, Edward CIO (1)Prior to the Advisory Board Company, Mr. Marx served as CIO at Arlington-based Texas Health Resources. He is the former CIO of University Hospitals in Cleveland.

“Ed Marx is one of the most unusually gifted people in all of healthcare. This is a great win for Cleveland Clinic and a great position for Ed Marx,” says Scott Becker, publisher of Becker’s Healthcare.    

A fellow of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, he won the HIMSS/CHIME 2013 CIO of the Year award.

Equipped with more than 25 years of health IT industry experience, Mr. Marx will shape Cleveland Clinic’s IT strategy, using innovation and technology to enhance patient care.
