Citizens Medical Center to appoint Dr. S. Jeff Ackerman interim CEO

Victoria, Texas-based Citizens Medical Center’s board of directors unanimously voted to appoint S. Jeff Ackerman, MD, interim CEO, according to the Victoria Advocate.

Last Thursday, the hospital negotiated a mutual separation with its former CEO Stephen Thames, after physicians voiced their concerns about Mr. Thame’s leadership for several weeks. Mr. Thames will work at the hospital until Dr. Ackerman is able to fill the position. However, according to the report, the position could turnover as early as Wednesday.

Dr. Ackerman is a retired pediatrician who currently lives in Costa Rica, according to the report.
