ChristianaCare CEO to retire; successor named

Janice Nevin, MD, president and CEO of Wilmington, Del.-based ChristianaCare, plans to retire Sept. 1 after more than 23 years with the system and 12 years in the role.

Jenn Schwartz, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, was named the next president and CEO, according to an April 14 health system news release.

Dr. Nevin was named CEO in 2014 after serving in leadership positions including executive director of the Wilmington campus and chief medical officer. She joined the system in 2002 as chair of family and community medicine.

Under Dr. Nevin’s leadership, ChristianaCare has strengthened academic partnerships, advanced innovative care models and expanded equitable access to care, the release said.

Ms. Schwartz joined the system in 2018 and was promoted to executive vice president in January after serving as chief strategy officer and legal officer.

ChristianaCare Health System comprises four hospitals with 1,440 beds, along with a 10-bed neighborhood hospital, a freestanding emergency department and urgent care centers.
