Children’s Hospital Los Angeles names division chief

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has tapped Kambiz Etesami, MD, as division chief of abdominal organ transplantation, according to a Nov. 3 news release. 

Dr. Etesami joined the hospital in 2017 and most recently served as director of abdominal organ transplantation and surgical director of liver and kidney transplant programs. He also works in the abdominal transplant division at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, also based in Los Angeles. 

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ kidney transplant program is one of the longest-running programs in the U.S., and its liver transplant program has the highest pediatric survival rates in the country, according to the release.

In his new role, Dr. Etesami will oversee the hospital’s liver, kidney and pancreatic islet transplant programs.
