Children’s Hospital Los Angeles names Dr. James Stein first-ever CMO: 4 notes

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles selected James Stein, MD, to serve as its inaugural senior vice president and CMO, effective July 1.

Here are four notes:

1. Dr. Stein has worked at CHLA since 1996, serving in numerous roles, including as vice chair for the department of surgery and interim chief of the division of pediatric surgery.

2. Fellowship-trained in pediatric surgery, he is an associate professor of clinical surgery at Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

3. He is a member of the quality and patient safety board of the California Children’s Hospital Association.

4. Dr. Stein holds a master’s degree in healthcare management from Boston-based Harvard School of Public Health.
