Children’s Hospital appoints 1st-ever surgeon-in-chief: 3 takeaways

New Orleans-based Children’s Hospital tapped Ellis Arjmand, MD, PhD, to serve as surgeon-in-chief, a newly created role.

1. Dr. Arjmand comes to Children’s Hospital from Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, where he served in several leadership roles, including as chief of the otolaryngology service and director of faculty development and practice standards for the surgery department.

2. He previously served as director of the ear and hearing center and pediatric cochlear implant
Program at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

3. In addition to his medical and doctorate degrees, he holds a master of medical management degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
