Dr. Foster’s last day with the Vancouver, Wash.-based medical group will be March 8, according to an announcement shared by PeaceHealth Executive Vice President and Chief Financial and Growth Officer Darrin Montalvo.

Dr. Foster joined the PeaceHealth system in 2014 and assumed the chief executive role of the medical group in 2022. Family priorities are driving his decision to step down from the medical group, which consists of 10 medical centers and 139 clinics in Alaska, Oregon and Washington with more than 1,200 physicians and providers, and 16,000 caregivers.

“Dr. Foster shared this choice stems from the need to provide dedicated support to his aging parents in Scotland. Their increasing care needs require his full attention,” according to Mr. Montalvo.

Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Dr. Foster attended medical school in Glasgow, Scotland, and practiced in Scotland and New Zealand. After earning his master’s degree in Public Health, Health Services Policy and Administration from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Dr. Foster served in multiple director and executive positions with Providence Health & Services in Oregon prior to joining PeaceHealth.

Melissa Edwards, MD, CMO of PeaceHealth Medical Group, will provide leadership as the interim chief executive effective immediately with partners in COO Dawn Tolotti and CFO Erin Gerner to provide overall strategic leadership.
