Ms. Milstien is leaving for a new job opportunity. She served as leader of Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital for four and a half years. She is the former CEO of Simi Valley (Calif.) Hospital, now known as Adventist Health Simi Valley.
During her tenure, Ms. Milstien oversaw the opening of a $305 million wing at Ventura County Medical Center’s main hospital in Ventura and a crisis stabilization unit.
The hospital is facing financial difficulties. Ventura County Health Care Agency Director Bill Foley told VC Star it expects to lose $3 million in the next fiscal year. Plans for a turnaround reportedly include hospital worker layoffs and the closure of the obstetrics unit at Santa Paula Hospital.
The Ventura County Health Care Agency oversees both the hospitals.
Ms. Milstien told the VC Star that her decision to resign had nothing to do with financial issues at the organization.
Mr. Foley, who has taken over CEO duties as the Ventura County Health Care Agency, said he hopes to name Ms. Milstien’s successor by the end of the week.
