Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai has appointed Casey Batten, MD, as chief medical officer for the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Dr. Batten, a sports medicine specialist at the health system, will oversee all aspects of medical planning and care delivery for the Los Angeles Games. He will also sit on the International Olympic Committee’s Medical and Scientific Commission.
Dr. Batten serves as co-director of nonoperative orthopaedics and sports medicine and director of the primary care sports medicine fellowship in the orthopaedics department at Cedars-Sinai. He is also the head team physician for the Los Angeles Rams, according to an April 8 news release.
Cedars-Sinai was selected as the official medical provider for the 2028 Olympic Games in fall 2024. The health system is also part of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Medical Network, providing care for Team USA athletes competing in national and international events.
