Cedars-Sinai names chair of medicine

Cedars-Sinai has named David Cohen, MD, PhD, chair of the department of medicine, effective July 1.

Dr. Cohen joins the Los Angeles-based academic health system from Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he served as chief of the division of gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy. He was also a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

An expert in obesity-related diseases, Dr. Cohen has published extensively on liver disease, metabolism and related conditions. He recently completed a five-year term as editor-in-chief of Hepatology.
