Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai has named Michael Buchman chief investment officer, effective Dec. 1.
Mr. Buchman will oversee the health system’s $8 billion investment portfolio and lead its investment strategy, objectives and policies as established by the board’s investment committee. He will also advise on portfolio risk and exposure and further develop Cedars-Sinai’s investment team.
Mr. Buchman joins Cedars-Sinai from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, where he spent 18 years in investment roles. Since 2021, he has served as vice president and chief investment officer, managing the foundation’s $8.3 billion investment portfolio.
At the foundation, Mr. Buchman worked with its CEO, investment committee and board on asset allocation, risk management, manager selection and investment operations.
“Michael is the ideal leader to strategically grow our investment portfolio and enable us to better serve all those who need Cedars-Sinai,” David Wrigley, executive vice president and CFO of Cedars-Sinai Health System, said in an Oct. 6 news release.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Buchman held roles in finance, real estate and law at Citigroup Global Investment Bank, Broadway Partners and two law firms.
