Capella names Gary Willis CFO: 3 things to know

Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare has named Gary Willis executive vice president and CFO, according to a Nashville Post report.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Willis.

1. He will replace Denise Warren, who has served as CFO since 2005. Ms. Warren has taken a COO role for a North Carolina hospital system.

2. Most recently, Mr. Willis was CFO of venture capital firm Martin Ventures. Previously, he served as senior vice president and chief accounting officer for Nashville-based Vanguard Health Systems, which was purchased by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare in 2013. He also served in a similar role with Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health.

3. Mr. Willis comes to the position amid Capella’s sale to Birmingham, Ala.-based real estate investment trust Medical Properties Trust.  Medical Properties Trust completed its $900 million acquisition last week.
