Ms. Patterson most recently worked for Studer Group, a healthcare consulting firm. She has also previously held the position of COO at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, S.C. She has more than 20 years of operational experience in the healthcare industry.

She replaced former COO Steven Sayler, who resigned in December and was the subject of a lawsuit between Indian River Medical Center and Health Management Associates, a national healthcare research and consulting firm. The suit was due to an agreement he signed while employed at his place of work prior to IRMC, according to the report.
