After more than five years in senior leadership roles at Walmart, Pravene Nath, MD, is joining San Diego and Orange, Calif.-based Rady Children’s Health in November.
Effective Nov. 16, Dr. Nath will become executive vice president and chief innovation and physician executive of the three-hospital system, Rady Children’s Health announced Oct. 28. Dr. Nath currently serves as Walmart’s group director of consumer health and data solutions.
In the role, Dr. Nath will guide long-term clinical and research strategy and work to translate scientific discoveries and emerging technologies into patient care. He will partner with physician, nursing, technology, research and operational leaders to set systemwide clinical priorities and strengthen physician collaboration.
He will also lead the system’s work on innovation and discovery, digital health, clinical informatics and emerging technologies, while building partnerships with academic institutions and industry, according to Rady Children’s Health.
Before joining Walmart in 2021, Dr. Nath worked at Roche and Mindstrong Health, a virtual mental health platform, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also held chief medical information officer roles at New York City-based NYU Langone Health and Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Health Care. From 2013 to 2017, Dr. Nath was Stanford Health Care’s chief information and digital officer.
“With more than two decades of experience in academic medicine, digital health and healthcare transformation, Dr. Nath will help accelerate scientific breakthroughs, technological advances, new models of care and innovative treatments that together can improve outcomes for children and families,” Rady Children’s Health said.
The system provided care to 216,685 children in 2025. Every year, Rady Children’s Health gives out more than 21,000 popsicles and 280,000 Band-Aids, and its playrooms go through about 9,900 packs of crayons.
A January 2025 merger of the parent companies for Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego created Rady Children’s Health.
