Jason Paret will step down as CEO of Avalon, Calif.-based Catalina Island Health on Sept. 30 after nearly 10 years in the role.
He will be succeeded by Chief Strategy Officer Tim Kielpinski, according to a June 6 hospital news release.
Mr. Paret has led the organization since 2016. During his tenure, the hospital launched a clinical affiliation with Irvine, Calif.-based UCI Health, achieved a nearly 80% COVID-19 vaccination rate on the island within months of vaccine availability, and purchased the island’s only pharmacy.
He is relocating to Texas and plans to remain in healthcare, with plans to start a new business, the release said.
Mr. Kielpinski joined the hospital in January 2024 after serving as COO of the Catalina Island Conservancy for seven years.
Catalina Island Health is the only provider of emergency medical care for the island’s residents, workers and more than 1 million annual visitors. In April, it received $3 million in one-time funding to remain open.
