California hospital CEO heads to Catholic Health

Derek Drake, DNP, RN, has been named president of Mercy Hospital of Buffalo (N.Y.), part of Buffalo-based Catholic Health, effective in July.

Dr. Drake brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience to the role, most recently serving as CEO of Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, Calif., according to an April 25 health system news release shared with Becker’s. He previously served as chief nursing officer of St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, Calif.

At 387-bed Mercy Hospital, Dr. Drake will focus on advancing employee engagement and clinical excellence, the release said.

He will succeed Marty Boryszak, who stepped down as hospital president and system senior vice president of acute care Dec. 31.
