Mr. Cummings will leave his post once his successor is selected, which is expected to take around three months to nine months. A national search is underway to find his replacement.
Mr. Cummings spearheaded the recent affiliation between L+M and the Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health network. State regulators approved the integration in September 2016. Additionally, Denise Fiore, vice president for clinical services at Yale New Haven Hospital, will be working at L+M on an interim basis to ensure a smooth integration.
During his tenure, Mr. Cummings was also instrumental in founding the L+M Medical Group, a hospital-affiliated physician organization and opening the L+M Cancer Center in Waterford, Conn., according to the report.
