Brookwood Baptist Medical Center CEO to depart: 5 takeaways

Keith Parrott, CEO of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala., is resigning at the end of the year, according to an AL.com report.

Here are five takeaways:

1. Mr. Parrott is also group CEO for Birmingham-based Baptist Health System in Alabama and Tennessee. Baptist Health System and Brookwood Medical Center merged in 2015 creating Brookwood Baptist Health.

2. He is leaving to "pursue other professional opportunities," according to a health system statement obtained by AL.com.

3. Mr. Parrott is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

4. Prior to joining Baptist Health System in 2008, he worked at Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston.

5. Sally Hurt-Deitch, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, will take over as the interim CEO of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center. Tenet is Brookwood Baptist's parent.
