Joe du Lac has departed as COO of Bronson Battle Creek (Mich.) for a new opportunity.

Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Bronson Healthcare named Tresa Kruis, MSN, RN, interim COO as it begins a national search for a permanent successor later in June, according to a June 23 health system news release.

Mr. du Lac had served as COO since 2022. During his tenure, he led an organizational turnaround that resulted in a positive operating margin and strengthened the hospital’s long-term viability, the release said.

Ms. Kruis began her career at Bronson Battle Creek and served at the hospital from 1995 to 2014 before joining Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was named vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Bronson Methodist Hospital in 2025, where she leads more than 1,000 team members.

Lisa Padgett will serve in Ms. Kruis’ current role at Bronson Methodist Hospital on an interim basis, according to the release.
