Boca Raton Regional Hospital CEO Jerry Fedele, COO Karen Poole to retire next year

Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital President and CEO Jerry Fedele and COO Karen Poole, BSN, are planning to retire, according to a South Florida Business Journal report. Both leaders plan retire in 2018.

Mr. Fedele, who has served at the helm of the hospital since 2008, will retire in August 2018. During his tenure, the hospital opened the Marcus Neuroscience Institute, the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health and Wellness Institute as well as the Lynn Cancer Institute. He also played a key role in creating the BocaCare Physician Network. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Pittsburgh and JD degree from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh.

Ms. Poole also joined the hospital as COO in 2008. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is equipped with more than 30 years of healthcare operations experience, including 14 years as a CEO and 11 years as a division president in multihospital management. Ms. Poole earned a master’s degree in management and supervision with a focus on healthcare administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and a nursing degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown.

The hospital’s board will establish a plan for transition, according to the report.
