Bob Cannon, president of St. Louis-based BJC Health’s East Region, plans to retire April 1.
Mr. Cannon has spent 26 years with BJC, according to a Sept. 14 health system news release. In that time, he held leadership roles spanning hospital operations, ambulatory care, home care and hospice, capital construction, real estate, supply chain, government relations and community health improvement. He also served as BJC’s incident commander during the COVID-19 pandemic.
His past roles include president of St. Louis-based Barnes-Jewish Hospital and group president for the East Region, according to his BJC leadership bio. He was named East Region president in October 2025.
“In every role, he has strengthened our partnership with WashU and advanced our services as an integrated academic health system,” BJC Health President and CEO Nick Barto said in the release.
BJC Health operates as BJC HealthCare in its East Region and Saint Luke’s in its West Region. The system has 24 hospital campuses and more than 48,000 employees.
