Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham appoints new COO

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham (Mass.) has welcomed Randolph “Randy” Howard Jr. as its new COO.

Mr. Howard joins from Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Mass., another member of the Cambridge, Mass.-based Beth Israel Lahey Health system. He brings with him over 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, including two decades of service in the U.S. Army.

Before joining the Beth Israel Lahey Health system, Mr. Howard served as COO of 296-bed St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown, N.Y. He has also held multiple leadership roles at New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health, including deputy executive director and COO of Huntington (N.Y.) Hospital and the system’s senior vice president for corporate facilities services. Notably, he led Huntington Hospital’s Covid-19 response and established Northwell’s Office of Military and Veterans Liaison Services.
