Baylor Scott & White Health taps James Hinton to lead as CEO: 5 takeaways

Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health appointed James H. Hinton president and CEO, effective Jan. 16, 2017.

Here are five takeaways:

1. Currently, Mr. Hinton serves as president and CEO of Albuquerque, N.M.-based Presbyterian Healthcare Services.

2. He has served at the helm of Presbyterian Healthcare Services since 1995. He has worked to grow the Presbyterian Health Plan and was instrumental in establishing the Presbyterian Medical Group.

3. In 2014, he served as chair of the American Hospital Association.

4. He will succeed Joel T. Allison, who is retiring.

5. Mr. Allison joined legacy Baylor Health Care System in 1993, and was named president and CEO in 2000. He became CEO of Baylor Scott & White Health after Baylor’s 2013 merger with Scott & White Healthcare.
