BayCare hospital names chief medical officer

Clearwater, Fla.-based Morton Plant Hospital, a BayCare Health System facility, named Robert Kopec, MD, chief medical officer and vice president.

Dr. Kopec stepped into his new role March 30 succeeding  Jeffery Jensen, MD, who retired, according to an April 3 system news release. Dr. Kopec will provide clinical oversight of physicians, oversee regulatory compliance and quality of services, and train new physicians. 

Previously, Dr. Kopec served as chief medical officer of New Port Richie, Fla.-based Morton Plant North Bay Hospital since 2022. He first joined BayCare Medical Group in 2012 when he was hired as a hospitalist at Mease Countryside and Mease Dunedin hospitals.
