Bassett names COO: 3 things to know

Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Bassett Healthcare Network has named Andrew Manzer executive vice president and COO, effective March 1, according to a report from The Daily Star.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Manzer.

1. He has served as president and CEO of Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, N.Y., since 2011. He recently led Schuyler Hospital's successful affiliation and merger with Ithaca, N.Y.-based Cayuga Health System, serving as system vice president since 2014 in addition to retaining his role as CEO at Schuyler.

2. In his new role, he will be responsible for the operating performance of Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown and Bassett Healthcare Network, which, aside from Bassett Medical Center, includes five other corporately affiliated hospitals, as well as nursing facilities, health centers and health partners in related fields. Mr. Manzer will also be responsible for "helping to envision and create models of operational integration, structures and systems that will best position the network for success," hospital officials said, according to the report.

3. Mr. Manzer succeeds the previous COO, Bertine McKenna, who left the organization in May.
