Here are four things to know about Dr. Purvance.
1. He will take over the CEO position Nov. 1. He is replacing John G. Williams, who will retire in early 2016 after nine years with Barton Health.
2. Dr. Purvance has served as Barton Health’s CMO for the past eight years.
3. He is board-certified in emergency medicine and has practiced medicine at South Lake Tahoe-based Barton Memorial Hospital since 1999.
4. When asked about the selection of Dr. Purvance as CEO, Mr. Williams said, “It has been a pleasure working with Dr. Purvance. His medical leadership has been instrumental in improving our quality and patient safety ratings, which led to our recent Joint Commission recognition as a Top Performer.” He added, “Dr. Purvance’s integrity, adaptability and core belief that patients are a top priority make him more than qualified to lead the organization in a new and exciting direction.”
