Dr. Bonamo, who has a background in obstetrics and gynecology, has served as president and CEO of SBMC since 2001. Earlier this year, he took on responsibility as Barnabas Health’s
quality officer.
Dr. Bonamo earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and also earned a master’s degree in healthcare management from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Thomas Biga, Barnabas Health executive vice president of operations, will become interim president and CEO of SBMC while the system searches for Dr. Bonamo’s permanent replacement.
