Baptist Health Paducah names chief nursing officer

Marilyn Riley, DNP, has been named vice president and chief nursing officer at Baptist Health Paducah (Ky.), a Dec. 31 Paducah Sun report said.

With more than 25 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Riley will step into her new role on Jan. 30.

She said the hospital's "faith-based values" resonate with her own beliefs. "As a nurse leader, being intentional in building relationships and supporting professional development at all levels in nursing will drive positive clinical outcomes and improve overall care provided to our community," Dr. Riley said in a news release from the hospital posted on Facebook.

She added, "compassion, excellence and collaboration are particularly significant to my role as a nurse and nurse leader. As a nurse, and serving vulnerable populations, it is a privilege and should be respected at the highest of levels."

Dr. Riley comes to Baptist Health Paducah from her position as the national director of patient and consumer experience, coaching and evidence-based practice at St. Louis-based Ascension Health.

"I am confident she will build upon our strong previous nursing leadership with the goal of making Baptist Health Paducah the preferred health care organization in the region for staff and patients," Kenny Boyd, president of Baptist Health Paducah, said in the report. He added that he is looking forward to Dr. Riley sharing her wealth of experience in the areas of staff engagement and patient experience.

Dr. Riley earned a doctor of nursing practice from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a master of business administration in healthcare online from Western Governors University.
