Banner Health taps SVP of clinical advancement

Phoenix–based Banner Health appointed Alan Weiss, MD, senior vice president of clinical advancement, effective March 31, according to a March 18 press release.

Dr. Weiss will work with clinical, information technology and innovation partners across Banner’s system to roll out new technologies that streamline workflows, enhance care quality and improve patient safety. He will also oversee the system’s telehealth strategy for primary and specialty care access and work to reduce administrative tasks.

Dr. Weiss is a physician informaticist with more than 24 years of experience at systems which include Cleveland Clinic, Cedars-Sinai, Memorial Hermann and the BayCare Health System. Most recently, he was the chief medical information officer at BayCare. He also practiced internal medicine at Cleveland Clinic for 10 years.
