Banner Health names 2 hospital leaders: 7 things to know

Banner Health has named a new CEO for Sterling (Colo.) Regional MedCenter, and an interim CEO for Ogallala (Neb.) Community Hospital.

Here are seven things to know about the leaders.

Jeffrey Shelton was named CEO of Sterling, effective Sept. 14, according to a Journal-Advocate report.

1. Mr. Shelton replaces interim CEO Kelly Hurt.

2. He comes from Shattuck, Okla.-based Newman Memorial Hospital, where he has served as CEO for a 74-bed acute care hospital.

3. Previously, he worked as the CEO for Harlan County Health System, a 19-bed critical access hospital in Alma, Neb. A registered respiratory therapist by trade, he also was director and assistant director of cardiopulmonary services, a division that specializes in care within the areas of respiratory, cardiology, neurology and sleep medicine while in Nebraska and Kentucky.

Aileen Chandler, MSN, RN, was named interim CEO of OCH.

4. Ms. Chandler replaces Sharon Lind, who moved to Arizona to become CEO at Banner Ironwood and Banner Goldfield medical centers in San Tan Valley and Apache Junction, Ariz., respectively.

5. Ms. Chandler previously was CNO for OCH. She joined the OCH leadership team as interim CNO in early 2014 and accepted the position permanently in May 2014.

6. She has worked for Banner Health for 10 years with most of her experience in leadership roles.

7. She began her interim CEO role Aug. 3.
