Ballad Health hospital names chief medical officer

Elizabeth Jackson, MD, has been named chief medical officer of Johnson City (Tenn.) Medical Center.

Dr. Jackson has spent the last four years as CMO for Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Community Hospital, both based in Kingsport, Tenn., and part of Johnson City-based Ballad Health. Under her tenure, the hospitals saw measurable improvements in clinical outcomes and team member engagement, according to a Nov. 13 news release from the health system. 

In her new role, she will oversee clinical quality standards, medical staff and foster cross-departmental collaboration to support operational efficiency and strategic growth at the level 1 trauma center. She will also continue her practice as a surgeon.

Jesse Sulzer, MD, will succeed Dr. Jackson as interim CMO of the Holston Valley and Indian Path facilities. He is the CMO of Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abington, Va.
