Currently, the Rev. Holtschneider serves as president of DePaul University in Chicago. He is also chair of Ascension’s board, a role he will step down from on June 30, 2017. He has served as DePaul University’s president since 2004. He announced his decision to leave the post in June 2016, though his contract was slated to expire in 2019. At the time, he said he would take a year off and return to DePaul as a tenured professor of education.
“We are grateful that [Rev.] Fr. Dennis Holtschneider has agreed to apply his determination, his vision and his skills in a more direct, day-to-day way to our ministry,” said Ascension CEO Anthony R. Tersigni in a statement, according to the Chicago Tribune.
