Warren Whitney was promoted to chief administrative officer of Phoenix-based Valleywise Health.
Mr. Whitney currently serves as senior vice president of government affairs and will succeed Lia Christiansen, who plans to retire in March after serving as CAO since 2021, according to a Jan. 22 news release from the health system.
He joined Valleywise Health in 2005 as vice president of internal development and has since held multiple leadership roles. In his new position, Mr. Whitney will continue to oversee government affairs and real estate, and take on responsibility for construction planning and development, including projects funded through Proposition 409, a voter-approved bond initiative, the release said. He will also oversee marketing, communications and support services.
Valleywise Health is a public teaching health system that includes a medical residency program, a Level 1 trauma center, a nationally verified burn center and an HIV/AIDS clinic, according to its website.
