Arizona hospital taps interim leader amid CEO’s temporary absence

Mount Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford, Ariz., has found an interim leader to serve during the CEO’s extended absence, according to a hospital news release shared with Becker’s.

Chief Medical Officer Bart Carter, MD, will serve as interim CEO and administrator in charge, the hospital announced May 19.

CEO Roland Knox, a former baseball player, said he is “‘on injured reserve’ due to a health issue” and is temporarily “out of the lineup,” according to the release. Mr. Knox indicated he will return when he is “100%.”

Dr. Carter joined the center 27 years ago and also serves as district board chairman.
