Lexington, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare has named Paige Franklin vice president of external affairs.

Ms. Franklin joins the 14-hospital system after serving as vice president of growth at Nest Health, a startup that provides in-home integrated care to Medicaid families, according to an Aug. 24 news release from the health system.

She previously spent nearly a decade at Aetna Better Health of Kentucky, holding roles including plan compliance officer, chief of staff, COO and CEO.

In her new role, Ms. Franklin will serve as ARH’s liaison to state and federal government as well as community stakeholders and industry partners.

ARH Chief of Staff Rocky Massey said Ms. Franklin’s background in Medicaid managed care, government relations and healthcare policy positions her well for the role.

“Paige’s understanding of the healthcare landscape and the complex needs of Medicaid populations will be invaluable as ARH navigates a rapidly changing policy environment and continues advocating for the communities we serve,” Mr. Massey said.
