Amid affiliation, Eastern Niagara Hospital CEO to depart: 6 notes

Lockport, N.Y.-based Eastern Niagara Hospital CEO Clare Haar is leaving, following the organization's decision to affiliate with Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health, according to a Niagara Gazette report.

Here are six notes:

1. Ms. Haar served in the top post at Eastern Niagara Hospital for 24 years, leading the hospital through many ups and downs, including financial difficulties and low health survey ratings.

2. She will depart May 11.

3. In December 2017, Kaleida Health and Eastern Niagara Hospital announced they were going to affiliate under an "active parent" model. The arrangement was described as a "strengthened relationship" rather than a merger.

4. At the time of the announcement, Kaleida Health President and CEO Jody Lomeo said Ms. Haar "would be replaced once the transition is complete." according to the report.

5. Several state and federal agencies have yet to approve the new relationship, which officials from both organizations say will improve care at Eastern Niagara Hospital.

6. David J. DiBacco, Eastern Niagara Hospital's COO, will take over as interim CEO after Ms. Haar departs.
