Allina Health names hospital president

Minneapolis-based Allina Health has named Michael Johnston president of Mercy Hospital — which includes Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn., and Mercy Hospital-Unity Campus in Fridley, Minn. — effective Nov. 20.

Mr. Johnston has served as the health system’s Southern market president since 2021, overseeing its Owatonna (Minn.) Hospital and Faribault (Minn.) Medical Center. A new leader has not yet been named to the Southern market, according to a news release shared with Becker’s

He succeeds Mercy Hospital’s former president, Jill Ostrem, who now leads Allina Health United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., and will soon lead the system’s United Hospital-Hastings (Minn.) Regina Campus and River Falls (Wis.) Area Hospital.
