Allina Health, Aetna pick former Molina president to lead joint health plan: 3 things to know

Minneapolis-based Allina Health and Aetna selected Tom Lindquist to helm their co-branded health plan as CEO.

Here are three things to know about the appointment.

1. In January 2017, Aetna and Allina Health inked a partnership to establish a jointly owned health plan as an option for employers and consumers in the Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., region.

2. As CEO of Allina Health | Aetna, Mr. Lindquist will select a management team, finalize policies and launch a digital portal for plan members. In the long term, Mr. Lindquist will be tasked with growing Allina Health | Aetna geographically.

3. Prior to joining Allina Health | Aetna, Mr. Lindquist served as president of Molina Healthcare’s South Carolina plan. His other previous roles include serving as president of AccentCare, a Texas-based home healthcare company, as well as leadership roles at UnitedHealthcare in Minnesota and Ochsner Health Plan.
