Allegheny Health Network taps president for new Pennsylvania hospital: 5 things to know

Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network named Allan Klapper, MD, president of the new 160-bed facility being built in Wexford, Pa.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Klapper is currently chair of AHN’s Women’s & Children’s Institute in Pittsburgh.

2. Under his leadership, AHN’s women’s program has grown to encompass 125-plus affiliated physicians and 50-plus sites of care in Western Pennsylvania.

3. Additionally, he oversaw the creation of a new obstetrics program at AHN’s Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, Pa.

4. Dr. Klapper, an obstetrician and gynecologist, is also a clinical professor at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia.

5. The new Wexford hospital will be integrated into the existing Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion and will serve a population of 215,000. AHN plans to break ground on the new facility in the summer.
